Credibility

Several states have mandated by state law that the Driver Risk Inventory-2 is their sole DUI/DWI offender test (e.g. Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Illinois (1 of 3 approved tests), Nebraska, and New Hampshire). And when a short list of tests is approved, the DRI-2 is usually among the select few.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is the highest federal authority in the DUI field and they rated the Driver Risk Inventory the best DUI offender test available (DOT HS 807 475). And now, after years of additional research, the Driver Risk Inventory has been improved. The DSM-5 Substance Use Disorder has been added along with the Illinois Mandatory Minimum DUI Risk Classification.

The Illinois DRI-2 now incorporates the Illinois Mandatory Minimum DUI Risk Classification methodology, which classifies Illinois DUI offenders' risk according to Illinois DUI state statutes (laws).

The Illinois DRI-2 is the only proprietary DUI offender screening test that incorporates the Illinois DUI state statutes (laws) - a very desirable innovation.

Another unique Illinois DRI-2 feature is its inclusion of a Truthfulness Scale to determine the Truthfulness of the DUI offender while completing the DRI-2. Many, if not most DUI offenders attempt to minimize or deny their substance (alcohol/drug) related use or abuse. No other proprietary DUI offender test has a built-in Truthfulness Scale. And this helps account for the DRI-2's popularity.

In summary, the Illinois DRI-2 is totally evidence based. Demonstrated reliability, validity and accuracy provide a sound basis for decision making. The Illinois DRI-2's cumulative database enables ongoing research on a regular basis.
